CENNI Certification
The SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública) has a program which aim is to establish in Mexico a national framework of reference for the evaluation and certification of languages, with the purpose of improving the educational quality of the target language, specially in the case of the teaching of English as a second language.
As a result of this program, the CENNI (Certificado de Nivel de Idioma) was created. It is a document that states a trustworthy and objective reference of the level of the target language of a person, in general and in the different language skills.
The CENNI is issued as an official document that allows the Dirección General de Acreditación, Incorporación y Revalidación (DGAIR), as well the institutions and authorities with which the process is established: they evaluate, accredit and certify knowledge and aptitudes in the target language.
The CENNI is voluntary and its use is optional for the different authorities, institutions and users of the national educational system.
